Rocoto are chilli peppers that belong to the capsicum pubescens species originating from the Andes in South America. They have a thin skin on the leaves and black seeds. Precisely because of their origin, they prefer cooler climates than other members of the capsicum species, often suffering summer temperatures or prolonged sun exposure.
